Denville OEM RACES
(Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services)

We support the Morris County New Jersey Office of Emergency Management

Our Mission

Denville RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) is an organization of skilled Amateur Radio Operators licensed by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), volunteering to provide radio communications support to local police, fire, emergency management agencies, and other public service agencies, in response to both unforeseen emergencies or disasters, as well as for assisting planned community events.

In addition to relieving non‐priority radio communications from these agencies during both unforeseen and planned events, we can also provide primary radio communications in the event no other communications are available for them.

What We Do

  • Provide secondary and back‐up communications during times of emergencies and special events,
  • Provide back‐up emergency communications between the County and Denville,
  • Provide emergency communications for shelters, emergency centers, as well as the municipalities with‐in the county and other served agencies such as the Red Cross, Salvation Army, local hospitals and so on,
  • Provide frequent training and drills to maintain our communication skills,
  • Provide trained radio operators to safely and professionally support a variety of radio communication needs.

How We Train

  • On the air for WS2Q Morris County Emergency Net Meeting ( 146.895 MHz, PL 151.4 Hz )
  • First Monday of every month at 8:00 pm local time,
  • Or, the second Monday of the month, if the first Monday is a holiday.
